First things first. My name is Mark and I run this silly little brand. My girlfriend and I own and operate a print shop in Philadelphia in case you were wondering how I have access to industrial machines. <br> <br>Ok, now that we have that out of the way: Tags. I was falling behind with work and trying to get this drop completed so I couldn't wait for woven tags to come in. I burned these screens to tag the tees and tested each one on a shit shirt and a lightbulb went off. What if I just sew in a cut out long fabric tag? I had plenty of doubts and not a flat sewing machine so I bought an embroidery file pack off Etsy for $6 which included straight lines and zigzags of varying millimeter lengths and thicknesses. I tried attaching the fabric to the seam of the sweatshirt with pins but they got in the way. I turned down the embroidery machine to about 450 stitches per minute and let it lay it's outlining stitches. It's so easy I might just continue doing it for the foreseeable future.
Tips for anyone who's going to attempt this; if you're stitching on a scrunched line, do it relaxed rather than stretched, it looks a bit distorted and folds together once relaxed. I trimmed the remaining fabric from the front, looks infinitely better. Bonus photo and possibly a topic of conversation in the future: glow in the dark thread.
Here's the link to the glow in the dark thread. Much better experience than with the 3M reflective thread so far.
